OS/2 is an operating system created by IBM in the mid-1980’s as a replacement for MS-DOS. Initially, it was jointly developed with Microsoft, but after 1990, the companies each went their separate ways. Despite the success of Microsoft Windows, OS/2 was widely deployed by users and companies alike.
